Project Team

This is the team working to bring Ripple to Black Rock City in 2022.

Josh Vermette // Confusion
Architect, Founding Artist

I showed up to BRC in 1996 with no ticket, and got in for $40, a case of Meister Brau, and a promise never to call Burning Man “a cause” again.  I’ve returned to BRC 20 times since then, running theme camps, building large in-camp installations, and running stages both on-playa and at Decompression.  For 8 years I’ve led HOTD, the Playa’s longest running bar and stage.  I believe in the raw simplicity at the core of Burning Man culture — do what you can, make it real, and if it blows up you were probably going to burn it anyway.

For the past 5 burns I’ve been posting oversized epic poems in or near the Temple, and dreaming of ways to bring an infinitely flowing crystal clear water installation to the Playa.  Ripple is the intersection of these two projects.  I’m excited to make Ripple a reality for BRC in 2022 in collaboration with the amazing Burners you see here.

Warren Trezevant // Warren
Founding Member, Visual Lead

A long time Burner, Warren’s helped bring art to Black Rock City since 2001, including animating for Peter Hudson’s Charon and Eternal Return, designing the breathing for Marco Cochrane’s R_Evolution, and as a co-lead for the Sonic Runway. As a former board member of the Black Rock Arts Foundation (BRAF) and current chair for the Global Art Grants, Warren also enjoys supporting emerging artists who want to bring interactive art into the world.

Michael Vermette // Woodstock
Power Systems Lead

Coming to the playa via Woodstock in ’69 and a detour of several decades in submarines and deep submersibles, Woodstock is a long-time contributor to Camp SPF.

Maureen Burns // Meep
Muse, Outreach & Fundraising

Back in 2015, Maureen left her position on the PTA for more rewarding work as Volunteer Lead & Social Coordinator for the Hair of the Dog Lounge (HOTD) leadership team. When she’s not herding burners, she works to better the lives of children and families living in poverty and as an adjunct professor of Early Childhood Education. Maureen is Josh’s loving wife and mother of their amazing 3 teens.

Tommy McNamara
Build Logistics, Architecture, & Sourcing

A designer & builder of custom installations in Minneapolis, Tommy has been with Hair of the Dog Lounge (HOTD) since 2017.
